Ty has been growing this mane out for over a year and a half. His last real haircut was a few weeks before our wedding in July 2015! He's had a few trims since then, but always kept the length going. His hair reached almost 10 inches - and at one point may have been as long as mine. A few days before the photo above, he had a matching lion of a beard as well. He kept that a little more tame, but I haven known a short haired + beardless Tyler since we were engaged. We've both had a ton of fun watching him grow out his red mop... and I wasn't even opposed to him going longer, but Tyler decided yesterday that it was time for it all to go!
Ty's been going to a barber in Manhattan at a pretty famous location. It's called Astor Place - a historic barber shop that prides itself on the "good ol fashioned" treatment. This place is phenomenal - it's basically the underground of an entire city block. Imagine 50 barbers and stylists in the same room, basically bumping elbows with each other as they cut head after head of hair! You could speak any one of 15 languages, and they would have a barber for you. But wait - are you also imagining the walls lined with magazine clippings of hot chicks and celebrities? Don't forget the faded photographs of every famous person who has got their haircut here - believe me, it's an impressive list. This place is so New York.
The barber in these photos is Jeff - Tyler's favorite. This was better than a fancy dinner or show for V-day bc Jeff was so entertaining to watch. The man is a follicle artist. And he was super cool with my constant videoing and photo snapping! He even posed in a bunch of them! haha
Even though it is in the end of an era, or hair-a (hope you caught that ;), I think we're on to brighter horizons! (literally - Tyler's face is glowing now that you can see it). We might not be able to share hair ties any more but my hairspray is sure to last longer!
